WaterFront Fire

Waterfront Fire are a captivating high energy Modern Rock 5-piece. In the past two years they have shared the stage with bands like Said The Whale, Always and Blue Rodeo; toured Eastern Canada; received MusicNL Awards for Alternative Recording of the Year (2015 - First Light) and Rising Star of the Year (2016); and were nominated for Group of the Year (twice), Entertainer of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. The band has represented Canada internationally in a song-writing exchange program in Trinidad & Tobago, their music video is in regular rotation on NTV and were named to the Breakout Artist program at East Coast Music Week. Waterfront Fire's music has been played on national radio and has been featured by CBC radio personality Rich Teryfry.

“Waterfront Fire are not your typical modern rock outfit. With a live presence that borders on frantic elation, to a set of vocals that rests a cut above most of their contemporaries, this five-piece rising stable of artists has been raising their profile – and fan base – with each passing showcase.”

– Dillon Collins, The Newfoundland Herald

"Waterfront Fire, to me, are one of the only bands in this contest (CBC Searchlight 2016) that sounds like they are ready to fill an arena." – Rich Terfry, CBC Radio 2 Drive Host

"Waterfront Fire’s contemporary rock sound is unique to the local music scene...Hooks are catchy, lyrics

are well-thought-out, and the sound is overall modern, with each of the guys having a hand in writing

the riffs." – Tara Bradbury, The Telegram

Selina Boland

Selina Boland describes her music as “Folk-Pop with a touch of the Atlantic Ocean Breeze”. She is a free-spirited, passionate singer/songwriter and guitarist performing poetic and storytelling songs. Her captivating stage presence invites listeners to suspend their realities into her remarkable voice and haunting melodies.

Selina was born in Newfoundland to beloved Lukey's Boat folk singer Laverne Squires. Her musical influences include Traditional Newfoundland, Irish, Classical, Folk, and 60’s Rock. Selina began performing in 2005, gaining experience in the local circuit of St. John's venues and making frequent trips to Woodstock, New York for shows. In 2008, her singles "Orphan" and "Hero" were both ranked among the Top Ten Songs in the Newfoundland and Labrador section of the National Songwriting Competition and were featured on local media outlets. "Orphan" also helped raise funds for the Bring Me Hope Foundation for orphans in China. In 2011, Selina released an EP, "Defined is Confined." The song "A Man Riding a Donkey" was selected to appear on the iTunes "AMAZING Compilation" to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

During the 2015 East Coast Music Week, Selina played the Opportunity Stage and RBC Breakout Stage, and was one of five artists selected for a live interview and performance at CBC's "Wake up the ECMAs." The East Coast Countdown chose the song "Puppet on a String" off her latest album, "Second Chances," as the Producer’s Pick for the Week of March 8th, 2015. Selina went on to promote the album on her solo Canadian tour in June and July of 2015, ending the tour at the Annual Brigus Blueberry Folk Festival in Newfoundland.

In 2015 Selina was nominated for awards by MusicNL for Female Artist of the Year and Pop/Rock Recording of the Year. She then opened for Juno-nominated folk band The Fortunate Ones and played the East to West Fort McMurray Fundraiser with Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea) and Tim Baker (Hey Rosetta!). In Summer of 2016 Selina played shows in Ireland, Scotland and Germany, returning to Newfoundland in July to share the stage with Juno-nominated roots band The Once, Sherman Downey, Shanneyganock, and The Masterless Men at Squidfest. She is currently working on her third album for release in Spring 2017.

Raw, bluesy, groovy and authentic. These are the characteristics behind the unique blend of Blues/Rock that Beauwater strives to deliver with every performance. Based in St. John’s, NL, the trio has been a staple of the Newfoundland music scene since their debut in 2008, earning the 2017 ECMA Blues Recording of the Year Award, and a career total of 5 MusicNL Award Nominations for their two full-length studio albums. Whether in studio or on stage, the band has dedicated their career to crafting a sound that incorporates a myriad of influences, but still remains unmistakably their own.

Born out of the infamous St. John’s fog, the group came together when singer/guitarist Jonathon Reid was delayed in flying back to his job in the Alberta oilsands. After seeking out lifelong friend and former bandmate, bassist Greg Newhook, the two met up with drummer Michael Maddox, who Greg had recently worked with on another project, and the trio instantly hit it off. Having a mutual interest in acts such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer and the Black Keys, the group quickly found themselves following the blues/rock trail, and some early original music began coming together. In early 2010, the group headed to the studio to begin work on their first album, Movin’ On. The progress was slow, but in March of 2011, the album dropped, earning a total of three MusicNL Award nominations that year, and propelling the band into the local spotlight. Over the next four years, the trio worked the local scene, opening for acts such as Our Lady Peace, Third Eye Blind, Hey Rosetta and the Trews, all while building a database of new original material. In early 2015, the group hooked up with Producer Chris Kirby to begin pre-production for their second studio album. ‘Lovers, Fools and Kings’ was released in August of 2016 and went on to earn two MusicNL Award nominations and an ECMA win for Blues Recording of the Year. The lead single, Better Off, became an instant hit across NL radio stations, bringing the group’s profile to the regional level and beyond. Now, in 2017, the trio have focused on continuing their expansion across Canada, while working on an expansive portfolio of new original music.
